THE STORY
THE CONCEPT
All of my previous albums have been "concept albums" where I was always reaching outside of myself to something bigger. So, for the first time on this album, I found myself reaching in and expressing deeper feelings. Originally the concept was going to be where every other song was going to be just piano and vocals with perhaps a few embellishments but as you will see in the execution that all changed.
THE EXECUTION
One of the things that happens when working with Doug Davis (producer) is because he is involved in a myriad of projects things take a while. Because of that two things happened that changed the album for the better. First during the waiting time, I wrote two new songs that became pivotal in the album and secondly once Doug started adding embellishments to a few of the piano vocal tracks they became something very different. The song choices and the arrangements happily led me to creating vocal performances that were more nuanced than anything I had ever done before which surprised me in a good way
